3 Easy Steps to Replace a Flat Tire

Changing a flat tire seems like a very simple task. It always looks so simple until you actually need to do it. Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned driver, a little refresher will still help you change a flat tire like a pro.

1. Ensure that you have the proper equipment and spare tire – in case of emergency, always have the proper tools in the trunk and that includes a flashlight/lamp, lug wrench, jack and the spare tire that has a correct tire pressure. Be careful that the equipment only touches the metals near the tire and not the plastic moldings.

2. Find a safe place – park in a safe place and away from traffic. Use hazard lights to notify other passengers that you’re having a car trouble. Check the area where you will change tires is well lighted and on a flat surface. Use parking breaks to securely hold the car in place.

3. Use the tools – use the jack, lift the car a few inches of the ground for the bolts to be removed properly. Then lift the car a few inches and remove the tire. Get the spare tire and put back in place. Be sure to tighten the nuts to keep the tire in place. Lastly, remove the jack and gather all the tools and tire and put them in the trunk.
