How to Limit the Number of Passengers on a Shuttle
Dealerships are gradually bringing back their courtesy shuttles after pausing them earlier this year. To deal with the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, many are requiring masks for drivers and passengers, providing hand sanitizer, and disinfecting the shuttle regularly. Additionally, many dealerships are now limiting the number of passengers that can be in the shuttle to one or two parties at a time to promote social distancing.
How Quickride Can Help
Quickride’s latest enhancement to the Shuttle Platform, Maximum Simultaneous Rides, makes it easier for dealerships to limit the shuttle’s capacity while still benefiting from Quickride’s automatic ride distribution and routing.
Some examples of how to use Maximum Simultaneous Rides to achieve certain outcomes:
1. “I only want to have one party on the shuttle at a time.”
-
- In Command Center Station Settings, an admin user sets Maximum Simultaneous Rides to 1.
- In the Driver App, drivers enter the actual number of seats they have available for passengers in their vehicle. For example, 4 available seats.
- Command Center users enter the actual number of people riding with each customer when creating rides. Customers do the same when creating their own rides via the Passenger App.
- Result: Quickride’s algorithm automatically assigns the rides to the best available shuttles and tells the drivers the order to pick up and drop off assigned rides. One party will have to be fully picked up and dropped off at a time with a maximum of 4 people in each party.
2. “I don’t want to have any more than two parties on the shuttle at a time.”
-
- In Command Center Station Settings, an admin user sets Maximum Simultaneous Rides to 2.
Up to two parties will be allowed on the shuttle at a time with a maximum of 4 people total between the two parties.
3. “I want to take advantage of all available seats on my shuttles and not limit the number of parties on a shuttle at a time.” (This is the default setting)
-
- In Command Center Station Settings, an admin user leaves the Maximum Simultaneous Rides as the default number.
There will be no limitation on the number of parties that can be on the shuttle at a time. The number of people that can be on a shuttle at a time will be limited by the vehicle’s seat capacity. If ride volume is high, it is possible for 4 customers that are part of 4 different parties to be on a shuttle at a time.
